As Semester One of the Bachelor of Design draws to a close, other activities
at Whitehouse are building up. We are looking forward to celebrating Open Days
2010 at our New Sydney Campus in Surry Hills, and ask you to join us - see
details below. We will welcome back our VET in Schools 2010 Cohort and new
students to our illustration and sewing workshops during the July school holiday
break to the Liverpool Street Campus. Semester Two of the Bachelor of
Design will commence at the New Surry Hills Campus on Monday 9
August.

Taking it to the 'Flor'

Interior Design students in their final year at Whitehouse have collaborated
with leading manufacturer and supplier of sustainable carpet within Australia,
InterfaceFLOR
to create Stonecraft, a new product collection.
Students will be onsite at the InterfaceFLOR Showroom in Surry Hills this
Thursday night for the official launch. We encourage you to pop in and have a
look for yourself at 101 Chalmers Street from Saturday 26th onwards.

Sewing with Style

Whitehouse is excited to announce the launch of a new workshop.
Sewing with Style is the latest addition to the school holiday line up
and is available this winter from Monday 5th July in Melbourne
and Monday 12th July in Sydney.
This one-week workshop will provide learner sewers with an introduction to
the application and modification of commercial patterns together with techniques
to embellish and construct a complete garment. The workshop is aimed at those
wishing to improve their sewing skills or those with an interest in fashion.
This program will also assist students with their textiles and design projects,
and those wishing to successfully continue studies in fashion design and

UK Exchange

Alyson Walter is the first Whitehouse student to take on an exchange
opportunity with the University for the Creative Arts, Epsom College as part of
her Bachelor of Design.
Alyson has been lucky enough to secure a full-time internship with Osman
in his studio, where she has been assisting in the production of his
Autumn/Winter 2010 collection. Osman is involved with an exhibition at the
V&A soon. Alyson has also been able to visit the great museums of London and
has headed down to Brighton and Bath on weekends off.

Triumphant Inspiration

Congratulations to Jana Pavasovic, Rachael Perks and Janna Spong of Third
Year Fashion Design, Sydney Campus for their entries in the Triumph Inspiration
Awards 2010 themed “Shape Sensation”. The students participated against three
representatives from RMIT and MSIT.
Featured is Jana Pavasovic's 'Confine' piece, inspired by the ideas of
constriction, confinement, and discipline to create 'shape'.
